3 game series – Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres
Let’s keep the winning streak going !
Video time! Vin Scully and Jaime Jarrin interviewed last year at Vero Beach.
For the encounter of meeting Adrian, click here. Like I wrote, the picture from my camera came out terrible. Luckily my friend shot this picture from a different angle. Thanks Ken. Viva Mexico cabrones! lol Check out the band on the site. They were rockin Norteño music. Almost came out deaf…
Today I met Reggie Willits. He signed the same Angels Mini-Helmet that I have been getting autographed for current Angels Players. Signing was scheduled at 11:30 am Guess where ? Yeah at a AT&T Location! I guess those Angels players are going to all the AT&T locations. lol :) I got there around 10:15 am Not alot of people were there. Then around 11 am it started to get full. Willits didn’t talk much. Just signed the items and went to the next item. My Wife got him to sign 2 items. I only got him to sign 1 item. I guess I was scared since he refused to sign 2 items to another fan.
On to the next one! Peace :)
First of all, as you know, the Chicago White Sox will be playing a 3 game series at Dodger Stadium. They were just swept by the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. Those were exciting games. More exciting is to know that the managers of those respective teams can rap. Yeah, Ozzie and Lou rap. Who acts more “gangsta” ?
The news out of the Los Angeles Times is that Dodgers general manager Ned Colleti
would allow the Seattle Mariners to talk to Dodgers VP/Assistant GM Kim Ng. Seattle is looking for a GM since recently they fired their GM Bill Bavasi. If Kim ever does get a job with any club as a gm, she would be the first female gm in baseball. I’m sure, she would do a better job than Colleti….
Writing about L.A. Times, there is another article written by Chris Dufresne. It’s terrible. It made me sick. He can complain about the Dodgers all he wants.
But to compare this franchise to the Angels ? Wow. He wrote stuff like “Steve Garvey’s forearms leading the charge, always seemed a little too good to be true. The field was too perfect, the grass too green, the home uniforms too white, the portly manager a little bit too over the top” Well I’m sorry we don’t have a dumb rally-monkey!
So has anyone ever had a Tommy Lasorda Wine ? If you want to blow 500 bucks down the drain, you can purchase a limited edition Lasorda Wine. Buy it here. Apparently, it has won several awards for it’s great taste. He quotes on his blog “Over the weekend I went to the Pamona Fairplex to receive a most prestigious award. Actually, my Pinot Grigio received the award, as it received a gold medal and was named Best Wine, Best in Class at the 2008 Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition’s inaugural Wine World of Sports, which pitted sports celebrities’ vintages against each other. My Chianti and Montepulciano, d’Abruzzo were also in the top ten, which makes me so happy because I would never get involved with a wine that wouldn’t please the people who drink it. “It’s especially satisfying because all the wine comes from Italy, which means it’s the best in the world. Nobody makes better wine than the Italians!” Hey Tommy, it’s not Pamona, it’s Pomona ! Also, don’t get drunk in public or else this might happen to you….Later! Peace!
The Dodgers owner Frank McCourt was in attendance and with their 15th pick, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected Ethan Martin. He is a High School Senior playing 3rd Base and Pitcher. This is the scouting report on him.
|Fastball:||Martin threw his fastball in the 91-96 mph range. He maintained the velocity, throwing 94 mph in the seventh inning.|
|Fastball movement:||He had hard, four-seamer life.|
|Curve:||He showed a consistently plus curve, a power breaking ball in the 79-82 mph range, that he used as a strikeout pitch to lefties and righties.|
|Splitter:||He showed flashes of a plus split-fingered fastball, up to 84 mph, that worked as an out pitch as well.|
|Control:||He was solid-average all night, at times above-average, filling up the strike zone with three pitches. He can throw his fastball for strikes to both sides of the plate.|
|Poise:||He is super competitive on the mound.|
|Physical Description:||He is big, strong, projectable — the prototypical power pitcher.|
|Strengths:||He’s a big, strong power pitcher with three above-average to plus offerings.|
|Weaknesses:||New on the radar as a pitching prospect, there’s no history to draw on. Scouts will need to see how he bounces back throughout the season to be convinced.|
|Summary:||He went from an interesting two-way player to an upper-echelon pitching prospect in one start. Showing three above-average pitches he can throw for strikes as well as the ability to maintain mid-90s velocity deep into a game, Martin was sure to be one of the most closely watched prep pitchers in the Draft class. He jumped on the screen with that one start; if he keeps it going, he’ll move quickly up the charts.|
More details to come…
MLB Draft is today and you can see it all live on T.V. at 11 am on ESPN 2 The Dodgers are picking the 15th pick. From some of the projections I have seen, the Dodgers would pick Texas College Pitcher Andrew Cashner. Who is Andrew Cashner ? He is a Junior pitching for Texas Christian University where he can touch 98 mph. He was mainly used as a closer. But we shall wait and see who the Dodgers pick later today. Check it out!
This occurred on May 25, 2008 It was Photo Day at Dodger Stadium. I got there early. I knew it was going to be impossible to get autographs. I didn’t even bring any items. I decided to just take pictures. Alot of fans were there! I was surprised. I remember from 2003 to 2006 I don’t remember that much people went. I know alot of fans come but not like this year. I didn’t go last year so I don’t know if it was less or the same amount of people. Most of the players were cool enough to pose at the camera. I think most of them were happy to do it except Jonathan Broxton. That dude looked mad and just stopped and kept walking. Maybe he acted like that just on my side but he looked weird. I was able to take pictures with 4 players. The first one was Wes Parker. He came toward us and I congratulated him on winning the All-Time Gold Glove by a First Baseman. This happened last year and he was voted the best defensive 1st Ba seman in history. After I congratulated him, he started to talk in spanish to me. I don’t know why. He said “Gracias amigo, muchas gracias” and other stuff that I didn’t understand. I should of told him “Gracias wey!” I just laughed. Next up was Chin-lu Hu. The Taiwan native that seriously looks like he is 14 years old. The third guy was Blake DeWitt. He seemed really enjoying the time to interact with the fans. Rookie of the year ? Who knows but he is playing great! The last guy was Delwyn Young. He looks gangsta. lol :) A couple of players I didn’t see was Jeff Kent, Clayton Kershaw (he was pitching that day so I understand) Derek Lowe, Rafael Furcal (maybe because he is injured) and I can’t remember who else. Well maybe they did come out, but not on my side. Pictures below.
This event occured on May 24, 2008 I was away for about a month from the Baseball world. It was nice getting back to the autograph scene. On this day, I got a autograph of Pedro Guerrero. I don’t remember seeing him before in any events. I did some research on him and found out he lives in Florida. So I decided to go and get his autograph since I don’t know if he would do any appearances in So-Cal. Some interesting and sad things about Guerrero is that according to his lawyer, his IQ is 70 Well he signed my ball and didn’t seem that dumb to me. Once, the Baseball writer Bill James called Guerrero “the best hitter God has made in a long time” He was the co-MVP in the 1981 World Series. Maybe if he didn’t have his personal problems, his career could of been better.
Hello Baseball Fans (and the 3 fans that read my blog, lol) Im back. I was away for personal reasons but everything looks cool right now. I have a couple of posts that I will be writing in the coming days. I need to catch up. So check that out. I need to post some pictures that I took with some players. I still noticed that MLBlogs haven’t put the Photo Albums up again. I will post the pictures as a entry. Peace out!
