“It’s just great here; I don’t feel like I’m in a cage. The fans in L.A. are unbelievable — never in my 16 years have I received such a reception.”
This just in…. lol
UPDATED ! Brewers win the wild card. They will play against the Phillies. The Dodgers will play against the Cubs. Let’s Rock !
The Dodgers will open the Division Series on the road. Either in Chicago or Philadelphia. Who do you want ? Chose your poison. If the New York Mets win the wild card, we go to Philadelphia. If the Milwaukee Brewers win the wild card, we go to Chicago. I don’t mind which team we play. If we do play in Chicago, I think luck will be on our side. The Cubs were on this week’s Sports Illustrated Cover. That’s a curse. Some believe it on the curse. Others don’t. You judge for yourself.
Joe Torre always picks a player to manage the last game of the year. This year it will be Nomar Garciaparra. That’s pretty cool.
Where will Manny Ramirez be playing in 2009 ? Before I make a prediction, check out this article by Michael Ventre. It was written on the day the Dodgers made the trade to get Manny. I bet Ventre wishes he didn’t wrote that article. Manny has been a great citizen and most important, a great player. He has been awesome. Stats .396 17 Bombs 53 RBI’s There have been lots of articles about his future. Bill Plaschke of the L.A. Times writes that it will be a bad deal if we sign Manny. There is also a article about how much the Dodgers made this year just by having Manny on the team. Also, Manny admits he was unhappy in Boston. Okidoki…Manny is 36 years old. Scott Boras is the agent. Of course, Boras will be looking for 1 last big contract. I’m predicting he is going to want a 4 year contract paying him around 20 mil a year. Are the Dodgers willing to pay him that ? Is it safe to give him that much money for a guy that will be 40 years old by the end of this contract ? What will happen to Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre next year ? I will try to trade Pierre in the off-season. We have Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp set. That means there is
only 1 spot left. Jones has 1 year left on his contract. I would try to sign Manny for 3 years around $ 60 million. My prediction….Manny Ramirez will be playing for the New York Yankees for the next 4 years. Didn’t expect that, huh ? Yankees are mad. Manny spent his teen years in New York. For the last 8 years there have been rumors that Manny wants to play for the Yankees. Plus the way he ended his time with Boston, wouldn’t it be fun for him to play in New York ? The Yanks have the money. They will be opening a new stadium next year. It’s all set. Man-Ram is a Yankee I hope I’m wrong. In the mean time, let’s enjoy his time here and win a Championship !
Video Time: Guess who is a big fan of Troy from West Virginia ? Andre Ethier ! lol
Dodgers Gone Wild !
Nomar delivers walk-off Home Run.
Joe Beimel talks to am 570 (8-12-08) Great interview.
Church of McCourt
Alyssa blogs about a way to sign Manny Ramirez for next season. I don’t think it works out. She writes the following….
How about this for an idea on how we can afford Manny next season? For every home game remaining, we should pass around a collection basket at the stadium. You know, like the collection baskets at church. We can call it the “Keep Manny In L.A. Fund.”
Let’s say the Dodgers average 48,000 fans for the remaining 20 home games, and everyone puts $10 into the “Keep Manny In L.A. Fund.” That’s $480,000 a game and $9.6 million total. Add that to the $50 million in other contracts that will come off the books, and you have 59.6 million. That means the McCourts only would have to come up with another $40.4 million to reach the $100 million contract Manny most likely is seeking. Piece of cake.
Well how about this for an idea Alyssa (Nice dreadlocks by the way) let Mr. McCourt pay the salary of Man-Ram. I agree that Manny changes the way Pitchers handle the other hitters. We need Manny. But at what cost ? We don’t know what his motives are. What if he asks for 5 years ? I wouldn’t give it to him. Remember, he is 36 years old. The maximum I would give is a 2 year contract. I see him playing for the New York Yankees in the next few years.
Video Time ! No More = One More ! Nomar does it ! What a win last night !
This is a joke, right ? Nomar Garciaparra says that the reason he is taking long to come off the disabled list is because he has slow healing in his genes.
Dodgers infielder Nomar Garciaparra said a genetic predisposition, one he didn’t know he had until it was identified by a Boston physical therapist with whom he voluntarily consulted last week, is the reason his left-calf strain has been so long in healing.
So blaming his own DNA ? Wow….I wonder if he got hurt yesterday while holding his annual Carne Asada event ? Well according to another Dodger Blogger, Robert Daely, everything went well. Glad to know. I found a video from the local news from the event. I wasn’t able to upload it here so I posted on YouTube and post it here. I promise I won’t make fun of Nomar anymore. I hope he comes back and help us win this bad division. I mean, he can’t be worse than Mark Sweeney, right ?
I always enjoy reading Tony Jackson’s columns on the Daily News. I also enjoy his blog. I check it on a daily basis. The guy is smart and funny. Doesn’t take it too serious and always has a story to tell us. But when I read this, I laughed so hard. Check out what Tony wrote on his blog….
When he woke up this morning, something “didn’t feel right,” according to Joe Torre. Well, of course it didn’t. Nomar went 1 for 2 with a home run in his debut for Triple-A Las Vegas last night against Tacoma. Stan Conte talked to him today and said Nomar felt confident he would be ready to play by Friday, which I guess means he’s out for tomorrow, too.
Oh man, Tony has it against Nomar Garciaparra. “Well, of course it didn’t” and
“which I guess he’s out for tomorrow, too” lol That was funny. But I do agree with Tony. My opinion on Nomar is that he is done. This being the last year of his contract with the Dodgers, you might have to say goodbye forever. We all know the Dodgers will not bring him back next year. The latest news is that he is in Boston to get checked out by a Doctor he knows when he played with the Red Sox. No word on how it might affect Carne Asada Sunday. I guess he doesn’t trust Stan Conte and the Dodgers medical staff. So all I have to say is…No more !
If you want to experience a Nomar Carne Asada event (I have never gone but 2 fans have told me the food is bad but the Mariachi is good) check out the following video (Bad quality, I know, but that’s all I found)
By the way I’m not a Nomar hater. I think he is a good dude and he was a great player (In Boston) I know he has done alot in the community. I have nothing against him but his time is over. Well at least with the Dodgers, it is. The future is the young
guys like Blake DeWitt and Andy LaRoche. On the right…pix of Nomar and I from a couple of years ago.
