Plus a video of Troy from West Virginia.
Alfonso Soriano can keep buying cars like this one. I took this picture back in February when the Cubs were at Arizona preparing for Spring Training. Soriano parked his car and let me just say that I wish I could drive this toy.
These “experts” are saying that the Cubs will win this series. Except Peter Gammons.

“It’s just great here; I don’t feel like I’m in a cage. The fans in L.A. are unbelievable — never in my 16 years have I received such a reception.”
This just in…. lol
UPDATED ! Brewers win the wild card. They will play against the Phillies. The Dodgers will play against the Cubs. Let’s Rock !
The Dodgers will open the Division Series on the road. Either in Chicago or Philadelphia. Who do you want ? Chose your poison. If the New York Mets win the wild card, we go to Philadelphia. If the Milwaukee Brewers win the wild card, we go to Chicago. I don’t mind which team we play. If we do play in Chicago, I think luck will be on our side. The Cubs were on this week’s Sports Illustrated Cover. That’s a curse. Some believe it on the curse. Others don’t. You judge for yourself.
Joe Torre always picks a player to manage the last game of the year. This year it will be Nomar Garciaparra. That’s pretty cool.
Where will Manny Ramirez be playing in 2009 ? Before I make a prediction, check out this article by Michael Ventre. It was written on the day the Dodgers made the trade to get Manny. I bet Ventre wishes he didn’t wrote that article. Manny has been a great citizen and most important, a great player. He has been awesome. Stats .396 17 Bombs 53 RBI’s There have been lots of articles about his future. Bill Plaschke of the L.A. Times writes that it will be a bad deal if we sign Manny. There is also a article about how much the Dodgers made this year just by having Manny on the team. Also, Manny admits he was unhappy in Boston. Okidoki…Manny is 36 years old. Scott Boras is the agent. Of course, Boras will be looking for 1 last big contract. I’m predicting he is going to want a 4 year contract paying him around 20 mil a year. Are the Dodgers willing to pay him that ? Is it safe to give him that much money for a guy that will be 40 years old by the end of this contract ? What will happen to Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre next year ? I will try to trade Pierre in the off-season. We have Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp set. That means there is
only 1 spot left. Jones has 1 year left on his contract. I would try to sign Manny for 3 years around $ 60 million. My prediction….Manny Ramirez will be playing for the New York Yankees for the next 4 years. Didn’t expect that, huh ? Yankees are mad. Manny spent his teen years in New York. For the last 8 years there have been rumors that Manny wants to play for the Yankees. Plus the way he ended his time with Boston, wouldn’t it be fun for him to play in New York ? The Yanks have the money. They will be opening a new stadium next year. It’s all set. Man-Ram is a Yankee I hope I’m wrong. In the mean time, let’s enjoy his time here and win a Championship !
Video Time: Guess who is a big fan of Troy from West Virginia ? Andre Ethier ! lol
What’s going ? Dodgers are now 2 1/2 games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Dodgers are off today. The Snakes play a 4 game series against the St. Louis Cardinals starting today. With a win, Arizona would only be 2 games back. With a loss, they would be 3 games back. After tonight’s game, the Dodgers and D-Backs will have the same amount of games left, which is 6 games. Arizona Schedule. Los Angeles Schedule.
I watched the game on t.v. Very nice. I think they did a nice job in bringing all those old Yankees. It was cool. Now that Yankee Stadium will no longer host a game, Dodger Stadium becomes the third oldest park in the Major Leagues.

Video Time! The end of Troy ?

You can meet Rick Monday and Tommy Davis. Here are the Details…
Rick Monday will be signing his book at Dodger Stadium on September 19 before the Dodger game. Tommy Davis will be speaking and signing autographs at El Cholo Restaurant on September 24 at 6:30 pm. Call to make your reservation: 949.673.0777 I won’t be attending any of those events. I already have their autographs. Talking about autographs, I have yet to get a autograph this month. I missed on several events because I have been extremely busy. Hopefully, I will get some chances by the end of the month.
I want to congratulate Andre & Maggie Ethier for the birth of their first baby
Video Time! Troy just got his Beimel Bobblehead
A couple of MLBlogs have been updated. Andre Ethier has a new food review. Zack Hample made a visit to Dodger Stadium. I enjoy reading his blog. He has a passion of collecting baseballs. Alyssa Milano updated her blog too. Check them out.
I got a e-mail from Ken Roberts. He created a “odds of making the playoffs” website. At this moment, according to his site the Dodgers have a 49.11 % to make the playoffs. Interesting stuff. Check it out if you’re into numbers.
Troy from West Virginia is not happy with Allegany County Community College.
Greg Maddux joins the Dodgers. Ned Colleti had this to say…
“It’s very rare that you get the opportunity to add a pitcher like Greg even one time, let alone twice,” Colletti said in a club release.
Really ? Even let alone twice ? So why did you let him go in the first place ?
Not Joe’s Fault
According to Wallace Matthews of Newsday, Joe Torre deserves apology from the Yankees. Matthews writes the following…
They came with 6 million bucks in one hand and brass knuckles in the other. Torre walked away because he knew that, even at that kind of money, he wasn’t going to be a manager, just a punching bag.
Can you imagine how hard and fast the fists would be flying in the Bronx today if Torre had accepted the deal, only to find himself 10 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays of all teams, and 5 1/2 games out of the wild-card race with fewer than 40 games to go?
For a guy dubbed Clueless Joe before his first day on the job, it was an incredibly shrewd and prescient move by Torre. -
I disagree that the Yankees need to apologize. They knew very well the way they treated him. I do agree Torre would of been a punching bag. Imagine if your only purpose is to win a World Series every single year ? It’s impossible to win every year. The Yanks didn’t treat him fair. I’m glad Torre is with us but I do believe we would of been ok with a younger manager that can fire up these young players.
Stamp This !
I noticed this last week. The U.S. Postal Service released a baseball theme stamps. Pretty cool. Nice to add to your collection. From the USPS site…
On July 16, 2008, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service™ issued a 42-cent Take Me Out to the Ball Game commemorative stamp. The stamp was designed by Richard Sheaff of Scottsdale, Arizona. This issuance commemorates the 100th anniversary of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” one of the most popular baseball songs of all time. For decades, the song’s catchy chorus has been part of the musical tradition at ballparks around the country, especially during the seventh-inning stretch. The song was born on a New York City train in the summer of 1908, when passenger Jack Norworth (1879-1959), an actor, singer, and songwriter who had never attended a major league ball game, saw a sign about an upcoming game at the Polo Grounds. Suddenly inspired, he took out a piece of paper and began dashing off lines about a fictional fan.
Video Time ! Troy from West Virginia is going to Philadelphia this weekend to catch the Dodgers. Just don’t get arrested again Troy :)

World Baseball Classic 2009
On Thursday afternoon, the Dodgers will hold a press conference to announce that Dodger Stadium will host the World Baseball Classic (WBC) semifinals and finals. The 16-nation tournament are tentatively scheduled for March 21-23 2009 at Dodger Stadium. The same countries will represent. They are planning to add more countries (How about Nicaragua!?) for the 2013 tournament. That’s cool ! I’m a big fan of this tournament. I went to a couple of games for the 1st WBC event. I saw games in Phoenix, Anaheim and San Diego. It’s really fun. The fans of the respective countries are really into it and want them to win so bad. As a American citizen, I should root for U.S.A right ? Not really…in 2006 It looked like they didn’t take it seriously (kind of like the U.S. Basketball teams in recent Olympics) The American team didn’t seem they were having fun and the ones who complained about the Classic were the Americans. I never heard complaints from the other teams. They were proud to play for their country and the fans came out in large crowds to root for them. When I went to Phoenix to watch the U.S. take on Mexico, I would say more than half of the crowd were Mexicans. If you saw the parking lot, most license plates were “Sonora” and “Sinaloa” On this tournament I rooted for Mexico (My mom is from Sonora, Mexico) and Cuba (My dad is Cuban) It was hard rooting for Cuba, knowing that the team is run by Fidel Castro but you couldn’t appreciate the way they played. They were good. Made it all the way to the final against Japan. I was there at Petco Park when Japan defeated Cuba. It was like going to a game 7 World Series game. Check out some photos below. Pix # 1 -Inside Chase Field- Phoenix, Arizona (U.S.A. vs Mexico) Que chingon no? lol
2nd Pix -Angel Stadium- Anaheim, California (Korea vs Mexico) Viva Mexico cabrones!! lol
3rd Pix -Angel Stadium- Anaheim, California (Korea vs Japan) The stadium was packed full of Asians. Those fans were really into it. I’m sure I was the only brown guy and my Twin brother the only white guy at the Stadium :) lol (btw, I’m on the right) Konichiwa !!
4th Pix -Petco Park- San Diego, California -The Final game (Cuba vs Japan) I bought the Cuba hat that same day at the gift shop before the game. It cost me a blow to the ribs to ”win” the hat. Let me explain. Before the game, a couple of hours before game-time, I asked a employee if they had any official Cuba hats. He told me they sold out all the hats. That they are the hottest items. Huh ? Cuba hats sold out ? He said ”yeah and you wouldn’t believe it who is buying them, the Americans!” Crazy huh ? I didn’t believe it until he told me that a shipment is coming any minute. I waited patiently. Then a couple of boxes come in with Cuba hats. The employees tried to stack them by size but all the fans got crazy over the hats. Everyone wanted one. I remember I got smashed into a corner while I was trying to find my hat size! lol It was insane. Crazy! Next time, I will buy it online… The people you see me behind was a complete orchestra. I’m serious. They brought like over 20 intruments and played it all night long! Se acabo el mundo !!
My last pix -This picture is Fernando Valenzuela and I holding the WBC Mexico Jersey. I already got autographs from Mexican players Benji Gil and Oliver Perez. I had to get Fernando to sign it since he was part of the Mexican coaching staff. Sweet !! :) Yaqui Power !! lol
Ethier playing for Mexico ?
Talking about the WBC reminded me that a couple of people have told me that Andre Ethier is interested playing for Mexico at the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Can anyone confirm this ? I can’t find anything online except a line on Wikipedia that says “He has stated his intention to play for Mexico in the next World Baseball Classic” He did ? Wow, I never knew or heard about it
. I know he is of Mexican heritage, but I never knew he wanted to play for Mexico. I remember Nomar Garciaparra was going to play for Mexico in 2006 but he opt out.
Want to meet Ethier ?
Ok people have been telling me to give them upcoming appearances by Dodgers. Here is one:
August 2, 2008
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Andre Ethier at: AT&T
3851 Overland Ave
Culver City, CA 90232
I don’t think I will be going…I might head over to San Diego area and score some autographs there. But if you do go, tell me about it ! Ahhh y preguntale si va jugar para Mexico ? Comprendes wey ? lol :)
New Dodgers Blog
Check out a new Dodger blog made by Joseph. I see him during the autographs sessions.
Manny Ramirez coming to the Dodgers ? Say it ain’t so Colleti ? Keep the youth intact ! DO NOT TRADE MATT KEMP. DO NOT TRADE ANDRE ETHIER. Understand ?
Kent is a loner
Did you read this from the L.A. Times…? Jeff Kent says “I don’t hang out with the guys — never have,” he says. “I don’t go out drinking, look at porn, have a girlfriend or get divorced — so I’m selfish”
Lasorda speaks to Big Joe
Lasorda talks and talks and talks and talks.
